Autosport is mijn passie, mijn leven en mijn toekomst Kelvin (23) nam in 2002 op 15-jarige leeftijd deel aan het Internationaal 100cc Trophy Cup kart wedstrijden. Vanaf 2002 tot 2006 boekte hij in de 100cc kartklasse diverse successen. In 2007 maakte hij de overstap naar de formulewagens. Waar normaliter begonnen wordt in de vleugelloze Formule Ford nam Kelvin een grotere stap en nam deel aan het Noord Europees Kampioenschap Formule Renault. Deze formulewagens vereiste diverse afstellingsmogelijkheden waarbij testen en veel kilometers maken van enorm belang was. Het eerste racejaar kon dan ook worden gezien als leerjaar. Motorsports is my passion, my life and my future Kelvin (23) started participating in 2002 at the age of 15 in the International Trophy Cup 100cc karts. From 2002 till 2006 he had several successes in the 100cc class karts. In 2007 he made a big step and started racing formula cars. Where normally drivers start in the wingless Formula Ford, Kelvin took a bigger step and participated in the North European Formula Renault Championship. These formula cars have different tuning options that need to be tested and making many miles is of huge importance. The first season could therefore be seen as a training year.

Alle racewagens in het kampioenschap zijn identiek en de motor is verzegeld. Het onderlinge verschil kan je maken in je stuurkunsten, in de vleugelafstellingen, versnellingsbakverhoudingen en de wielstanden. In 2008 kwam de opgedane ervaring van pas en wist hij zich te onderscheiden van de overige coureurs. In 2009 maakte Kelvin de overstap naar het International Formula Master kampioenschap. Een geweldig kampioenschap met enorm veel exposure. De races werden verreden in het World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) raceprogramma. In 2010 kwam helaas door economische omstandigheden een einde aan dit kampioenschap. Kelvin maakte de keuze wederom een grotere stap te zetten en dit maal naar de Formula Two. Dit kampioenschap biedt een grote kans om straks in de Formule 1 te eindigen. De winnaar van het kampioenschap krijgt namelijk een test aangeboden bij Willams F1. Vele andere komen in opleidingstrajecten van de Formule 1 terecht zoals de GP2. Hierin hebben veel formule 1 teams juniorprogramma's. Voor Kelvin begon 2010 uitstekend. In het tweede raceweekend wist hij immers een zeer verdienstelijke 3e plaats te behalen op het Marokkaanse circuit in Marrakech. Gedurende het uiterst competitieve seizoen waren top 5 klasseringen gemeengoed. Aan het einde van het race-seizoen werd de hoogste trede van het podium behaald in de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten, Abu Dhabi in de Radical klasse. Een schitterende afsluiting van 2010. In 2011 neemt Kelvin wederom deel aan het felbegeerde Formule 2 kampioenschap. Ditmaal ligt het doel om mee te strijden met de top 5. Het raceseizoen 2010 was een leerjaar, zijn ervaring zal dan ook uitstekend van pas komen. Maar vlak de concurrentie niet uit. Alle rijders in het kampioenschap zijn uiterst gedreven en doen er werkelijk alles aan, ten koste van wie dan ook, om zich naar voren en ’in the picture’ te rijden. Hun toekomst hangt voor een groot deel van de punten in dit kampioenschap af. Het is immers een van de belangrijkste stappen naar de Formule 1.

All cars in this championship are identical and the engine is sealed. The difference can be made with setup in the wing adjustments, gear ratios and suspension pressure. But mostly the difference is made by the skills of the driver. In 2008 the experience he had became useful and he managed to distinguish himself from the other drivers. In 2009, Kelvin moved up to the International Formula Master championship. A great championship with a lot of exposure. Again Kelvin had to make a choice and he decided to make an even bigger step to the Formula Two. This championship offers a great chance to end up in the Formula 1. The winner of this championship will receive a Williams F1 test and many others end up in the training class for the Formula 1, the GP2. Here, many Formula 1 teams have junior programs. Kelvin begon well in 2010 and in the second race weekend he took home a very creditable third place on the circuit of Marrakech, Morocco. During the highly competitive season were top 5 ratings where common. At the end of the season he even stepped on to the highest platform of the podium in the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi in the Radical class. A beautiful end of 2010. In 2011, Kelvin once again participates in the celebrated Formula 2 championship. This time the goal is to join the battle with the top 5. The 2010 season was a very educating year and his experience from this will be very useful this season. But, do not underestimate the competition. All drivers in the championship are highly motivated and will do anything for a place upfront. Their future depends for a large proportion on the points in this championship. It is one of the most important steps towards the Formula 1.
